Case Studies

Choosing a new Audio Visual system is an incredibly important part of home renovations, but there are so many different systems to choose from... Bang & Olufsen is one of the most highly regarded companies in this field, as one of the pioneers in Multi-Room Audio/Visual distribution.

Now in 2010, technology is at its peak and Bang & Olufsen of Wimbledon Village are here to guide you through each step of the process. To give you an idea of the work we do we have put together some case studies and hope that you find them useful. For pictures of the mentioned installations please click here.
Wimbledon Basement Conversion

The client for this installation came to visit us having been recommended by a neighbour and the brief of his installation was to make use of a room in a basement which had not been used since he had moved into the property with his family.

We decided the best way to get the whole family using this small but cosy room in the basement would be to turn it into a mini Home Cinema.

We did this by installing a BeoVision 4-50 screen and BeoSystem 3 with the BeoLab 7.2 Centre Channel Loudspeaker and BeoLab 3 Loudspeakers at the front and rear with a BeoLab 2 subwoofer for that ultimate cinema experience.

In addition to this we installed a PlayStation 3 so the kids could play the latest HD video games and the adults could watch Blu-Ray movies as the director intended them. The client also happened to be a massive iTunes fan so we thought there was no better solution than to add an Apple TV so that he could listen to all of his favourite music, rent films online and view his latest holiday snaps. All of the above is then steered using the stunning Beo5 Touch Screen Remote Control making life easy for all the family!

Equipment Used:
BeoVision 4-50, BeoSystem 3, BeoLab 7.2 Loudspeaker, BeoLab 3 Loudspeakers, BeoLab 2 Subwoofer, Bang & Olufsen DVD2, Sky+ HD, Sony PlayStation 3, Apple TV, Beo5 Remote Control.

Putney Home Renovation

When an old client calls and tells us that they have decided to no longer have their Bang & Olufsen system anymore and have chosen to go for another brand, nothing upsets us more. However it was only two years until our client called us up again to say how disappointed he was with his replacement plasma and speakers and how much he missed his BeoVision Avant!

After visiting us in our showroom the client had decided that the floor standing BeoVision 9 was perfect for his set up and that he wanted it with BeoLab 3 Loudspeakers for the Surround Sound and a BeoLab 2 subwoofer. Nick the Store Manager then carried out a site survey and saw a fantastic opportunity. Where the client was wanting to hang a mirror would be an excellent location for the BeoSound 9000 audio master, mounted on the mirror. The client thought this was a fantastic idea and said that they would also like for the BeoCom 2 telephone to be mounted on the mirror.

The order was placed and we took all of the clients' non-Bang & Olufsen equipment and traded it in for him and then all of the new products were installed in sync with the clients cabinet makers and mirror specialists, making the finished product a work of art.

Equipment Used:
BeoVision 9-50, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 3 Loudspeakers, BeoLab 2 Subwoofer, BeoLab 3500, BeoCom 2, AppleTV, xbox 360, Karaoke Machine, Sky+HD, Panasonic Multi-Region Blu-Ray Player.

Wimbledon Developers Dream

When a local property developer came to the Wimbledon Village store and told us he was building himself a new home we knew we had our work cut out for us and that we had to design a system that would live up to not only his families requirements but also his prospective clients who might be viewing his property as a show home.

The brief was to have Multi-Room Audio and Video in the Cinema Room, Kitchen, Living Room, Master Bedroom and En-Suite Bathroom with a Lutron Lighting System throughout the property.

The client and his family weren’t massive fans of technology and wanted a very minimalist and easy-to-use setup in their home, so this is what we set out to achieve. We used the discreet BeoCenter 6 television screens in the Living Room, Kitchen and Master Bedroom and even made a BeoVision 4-50 television blend in by recessing it into the wall of the Cinema Room.

In the Kitchen, Living Room and En-Suite Bathroom we used the sleek BeoVox 1 Ceiling Loudspeakers and in the Cinema Room we used the popular BeoLab 3 Loudspeakers to fill the home with sound. All of the rooms were connected to a BeoSound 3200 which was located in the Living Room offering CD, Hard Drive and Radio functionality and could be accessed anywhere in the home using any of the Beo4 Remote Controls located in the property, which were also able to control the homes lighting system.

Products Used:
BeoVision 4-50, BeoSystem 3, BeoLab 7.2, BeoLab 3, Sky+HD, Apple TV, Sony Blu-ray Player, BeoCenter 6-26, BeoCenter 6-23, BeoSound 3200, BeoVox 1, BeoLink Passive, Lutron Graffik Eye.
Wimbledon Common Family Home

When the client came to the Bang & Olufsen of Wimbledon Village showroom, he was sceptical about the sound quality of our music systems as he was a Hi-Fi Audiophile. But had been recommended Bang & Olufsen by a friend who had told him the possibilities of BeoLink and how versatile it was at distributing music and video around the home.

Once the client heard the quality of our loudspeakers, he was amazed at how good the sound quality was and was unsure why he had ever doubted Bang & Olufsen. The client's family wanted a Hard Drive based music system which was able to distribute music around the home and also distribute video so we came together with a plan to install a BeoVision 4-65 television in his basement with a BeoMedia Hard Drive system, Apple TV and Sony Blu-ray player, coupled with Surround Sound consisting of BeoLab 8000 loudspeakers, BeoLab 4000 loudspeakers and a BeoLab 2 Subwoofer. The client who was impressed at how we had recessed the BeoVision 4-65 television in our showroom, and had his builders create a box frame to achieve a similar effect.

The Client also wanted a large screen in his Gym where he could watch Sky TV from his main Sky Box in the Basement and access his music on the BeoMedia with the ability to watch DVDs. So the perfect solution for him, was the BeoVision 7-40 television on a custom made wall bracket with two pairs of BeoLab 4000 loudspeakers which would fill the room with sound over the gym equipment.

For the Family Room, the client chose the BeoVision 8-32 television to provide picture with a pair of BeoLab 3 loudspeakers . In the Study, Dining Room and Master Bedroom, the client chose the slender BeoLab 4000 loudspeakers so that the music would be available at the touch of a button on either his Beo4 or Beo5 Remote Controls.

Equipment Used:
BeoVision 4-65, BeoSystem 3, BeoLab 7.2, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 4000, BeoLab2, Sky+ HD, Apple TV, BeoMedia, Beo5 Remote Control, BeoVision 7-40, Custom Wall Bracket, BeoLab 4000, Beo4 Remote Control, BeoVision 8-32, Sky+, Apple TV, BeoCenter 2 DVD Player, BeoLab 3, Beo5 Remote Control, BeoLab 4000.
Wimbledon Park

We were called into this property as the client had existing Bang & Olufsen equipment but was planning on having major renovations, so used this as the perfect excuse to upgrade all of their equipment to the latest offerings from Bang & Olufsen.

The client chose to use their existing BeoLab 8000 Loudspeakers and BeoLab 2 Subwoofer in the Living Room and chose the BeoVision 7-40 Blu-ray Television on a motorised floor stand with BeoLab 7.2 Loudspeaker. Twinned with an Apple TV and Sky+ HD they were all set for the greatness of High Definition. In the Kitchen we originally specified to have a BeoVision 7-32 however when the build commenced we realised that there was not enough space so the spec changed to a BeoCenter 6 television with additional BeoLab 3 Loudspeakers to give that extra sound for parties when listing to the Music on their Apple TV. Being a complete rebuild the electrics were also being completely redone and so therefore we had a Lutron Lighting System put into both of these rooms so that the client could have various moods programmed and change them at the touch of a button on their Beo5 Remote Control.

For the upstairs we put a pair of ceiling speakers into the Family Bathroom, a BeoLab 2500 and 24” Apple iMac in the study and a BeoLab 3500 loudspeaker in the Dressing Room so that the lady of the house could listen to her music when getting ready all from her AppleTV and change through the songs and playlists using her iPhone.

For the Master Bedroom the client chose the stunning BeoVision 8 LCD television screen which we wall mounted and  connected into the BeoLink system so that the clients can either watch Sky from the BeoVision 7-40 or DVD/Blu-Ray from the BeoVision 7’s inbuilt Blu-Ray Player all controlling it using their Beo4 Remote Control and being woken up in the mornings to Sky News with their BeoTime Alarm Clock.

Equipment Used:
BeoVision 7-40, BeoLab 7.2, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 2, Sky+ HD, Apple TV, BeoSound Ouverture, Lutron Graffik Eye, Beo5 Remote Control, BeoCenter 6, BeoLab 3, Apple TV, Beo4 Remote Control, Lutron Graffik Eye, BeoLink Passive, Ceiling Speakers, BeoLab 2500, Apple iMac 24”, BeoLab 3500, BeoVision 8, Beo4 Remote Control, BeoTime Alarm Clock.
