We are conveniently placed if you are visiting the new Liverpool One shopping development. Liverpool oozes culture and heritage. The city has a glorious past as a mercantile hub and gateway to the New World, but today it is also a key destination for art lovers, fans of the theatre and museumgoers. The city has numerous permanent art attractions too. Visit the Walker Art Gallery, the national gallery of the North. After all of that, you may want to sit down with a nice hot drink and a relaxing chat in a warm friendly environment. We are happy to see you and invite you to see whats new in Bang & Olufsen. You may just want to have a peek at our best ever selling audio product... the BeoSound 8 speaker dock.
If you are visiting the city for the first time, we recommend taking in the Albert Dock and the Cavern Walks, perhaps exploring the rich heritage of the city.
Since Liverpool won the coveted "European capital of Culture" status for 2008, there has been a whole host of events taking place here in the city. Liverpool's great musical heritage recently came to the fore once again with a fantastic line up of events. The summer of 2010 boasted acts such as Rod Stewart, The Australian Pink Floyd Show and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Band to name a few. A great season of concerts by the Roytal Liverpool philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Vasily Petrenko, and the prestigious MOBO awards were held at the Echo Arena. Earlier this year the city was visited by a street theatre company who performed a three day extravaganza with huge puppets. The sea odyssey was a celebration of the story of the Titanic. We then saw the Olympic torch visit Liverpool and the following week saw Her Majesty the Queen visit the city as part of her Silver Jubilee tour of the UK.
If you really want to see the wonders that Liverpool has to offer, then The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic is strongly recommended. As well as the world class Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the programme of classical music activity includes the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir, the Rodewald Concert Series of chamber music and our contemporary group Ensemble 10/10.
Uniquely, we also run a venue; the Grade II listed Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. We promote a wide range of contemporary rock, pop, folk, roots, jazz and blues concerts and music projects, in addition to festivals and comedy. Built in the 1930s, the 1,790 seat Art Deco concert hall also regularly transforms into a cinema. A smaller space upstairs, the Rodewald Suite, provides a cabaret style venue. These events are really putting Liverpool on the map and make the city a vital and vibrant place to visit.
Castle Street is in the heart of the Business District & boasts some wonderful restaurants & bars, and is minutes from Liverpool One. Being located on Castle Street affords us a great view of events and attractions that culminate at the Town hall.
